Hello teachers!
The American Society of Parasitologists announces the revival of Parasite Day!
Monday, March 4th, 2019 marks the anniversary of the birthday of ASP’s first President (Henry Baldwin Ward). To celebrate, we've collected the names of parasitologists who are interested in sharing their love of the study of parasites with the public. This year, we’ve brought together a group of scientists from Spain, Scotland, England, and the United States who are interested in being matched with a classroom. The scientist will give a brief (5-10 minute) presentation over Skype or Google Hangouts about parasites and the scientist’s particular field of study, and will then take questions from students.
If you’re interested in having a parasitologist speak with your classroom, then please:
1) Scroll through the list of parasitologists willing to speak to classrooms on March 4th. This document contains info about when the scientists are available, whether or not they would be interested in coming to your classroom personally (provided you live local to the scientist), and info about what the scientist studies in particular. Pick one or more scientists whose availability works for your classroom, and then,
2) Fill out this form by Feb 11th. We’ll then match up scientists with classrooms, and will email you to put you in contact with a parasitologist so you two can finalize details.
Thanks for your interest in Parasite Day!
